This beautiful coat is still in very good condition, in spite of 140 years! This was made by Ames, which made a lot of society goods and private purchase military uniforms in the 19th century. There is a lot of wear on the cloth coveted buttons, a small moth hole, and a place on the back of the collar where the seam has separated. There's also a few light stains that may come out, though we have not tried to clean it. The wool is an incredibly fine weave. One of the sleeve linings is in poor condition. The coat lining is polished cotton. The sleeves are striped gingham. Chest is about 36". Sleeves are long.
